What are the requirements for purchasing medical marijuana in California?

You cannot buy medical marijuana in California without a valid, current recommendation from a medical doctor or a specialist licensed in California.  We  do not make referrals; however a general list of doctors who provide letters of recommendation may be found at  the California NORML site. Click here.  Please also note that insurance does not cover either medical marijuana evaluations by a physician or any orders placed for medical marijuana.

What do I have to provide the first time I use Artists Collective?

The first time you use our service you MUST  provide the name of your physician, so that we can verify that you have a valid letter on file.  Then, you must provide your original recommendation letter  and a copy  of the letter for our files along with a valid California ID. After we have registered you,  we check to make sure your letter is valid before providing service in the future We advise you ALWAYS  to carry a copy of your recommendation with you for legal purposes. If there are any questions, the letter of recommendation will be verified through the doctor and not through us.

What is the minimum amount of medical marijuana that I can order ? And what is the maximum?

We do offer FREE delivery for orders. Depending on the distance for the delivery, there may be a minimum order to qualify for free delivery.  We  do comply with requirements under California law with respect to the maximum amount you may have in your possession. Under Proposition 215, you may have up to 8 oz. of medical marijuana in your possession unless you have medical verification that you require more. Please refer to Proposition 215 for more specifics.

How much medical marijuana may I carry on me legally at one time? How many marijuana plants can I legally grow at one time?

The “quantity possessed by the patient or the primary caregiver, and the form and manner in which it is possessed, should be reasonably related to the patient’s current medical needs,” including transportation. The number of plants you may legally grow at one time varies in different parts of the state. A full explanation of patients’ rights and growth restrictions can be found at the Cal Norml website. CLICK HERE to access this information.

Do you give discounts to patients with special needs?

Yes. We have a plan where patients with special needs can receive discounts on medical product. Please inquire about  these discounts. We also offer FREE delivery to all patients of Artists Collective.

Am I allowed to give or sell the product I buy from you to anyone else?

NO! Under California law, use of medical marijuana is for verified patients’ use only. Patients acknowledge and agree that they will use it for their own personal use and will not sell it to others. Caregivers, however, who have their own verified letters of recommendation may provide product to another patient with a valid letter recommendation.

Is possession in California legal under Federal law?

No. Possession, cultivation and use of marijuana, even for medical purposes, and even with a doctor’s recommendation, are still illegal under Federal law. The state of California however supports the use of medical marijuana.

Do you submit my records to any government agency?

No, we do not submit patient’s medical records to any government agency. Your information is for medical verification only.

If  I am stopped, am I required to submit to a search?

If you are stopped and asked by a law enforcement officer if they can search your car/home/purse, you say “I do not consent to a search.” If the officer says, “Why, are you hiding something?” you may say “I believe in my constitutional right to privacy and I do not consent to a search.”
